Sustainability

Made to be kept.

The most sustainable thing we can do is make one good piece, and repair it for the rest of your life.

We don’t believe in disposable. We believe in fewer, better, and forever — garments chosen slowly, built to outlast trends, and returned to us for repair instead of the bin.

Every piece KATAN makes is designed to have one owner for a very long time. That is the whole idea.

How we think about it

Four quiet commitments.

01

Built to last

Durability is the first sustainability. Every seam is over-built, every fabric tested until it failed and fixed until it didn’t. And when something does wear out, we repair it — free, for as long as you own it.

  • Repaired free, for life
  • Over-built seams & hardware
  • One owner, many years

02

Chosen slowly

We select materials for how long they last and how honestly they’re made — responsibly-farmed merino, organic and recycled fibres, PFAS-free water repellency. No virgin plastic where a better fibre exists.

  • PFAS-free finishes
  • Responsible & recycled fibres
  • Fewer materials, better ones

03

Lighter to ship

We move slowly on purpose. Carbon-neutral shipping on every order, plastic-free packaging you can compost or recycle, and pre-order production so we make closer to what’s actually wanted — not landfill.

  • Carbon-neutral shipping
  • Plastic-free packaging
  • Made-to-demand, not to waste

04

Said plainly

No green badges we haven’t earned. As we grow we’ll publish what we learn — where our fabrics come from, what we’ve improved, and what we still haven’t figured out. Honestly, in plain words.

  • No greenwashing
  • Progress published as we go
  • Held to what we promise
Technical fabric in the wind

The greenest garment is the one you never replace.

So we don’t chase seasons. We make a small line of pieces meant to move between your whole life — and to still be worth wearing in ten years.

Where we’re honest

“We’re new, and we won’t pretend otherwise.”

KATAN is a young brand shipping its first collection. We don’t have a decade of audited reports or a wall of certifications — yet. What we have is a way of making things that treats waste as a design failure, and a promise to show our work as we grow. If we ever fall short of what’s on this page, we’d rather you tell us than forgive us.
